THE BOMBING BEFORE DAWN
IT’S GETTING DARK OUT THERE
💥 HOLISTIC ASTROLOGY
January 6th, 2026
Exactly five years after a pivotal day in world history, it’s time for a brief update to the astrological picture, following the US’s shocking bombing of Venezuela and capture of its president Nicolás Maduro on January 3rd, 2026 at 2:01 am in Caracas.
On November 4th, I wrote a piece about the Jupiter retrograde that we’re now nearly half-way through (Jupiter turned retrograde on Nov 11th, 2025 and then turns direct on March 11th), and unfortunately my predictions there are holding up well. Here’s a bit from that piece:
“We can then expect a high probability of another of the USA’s most historic all-time self-inflicted wounds to take place around January and February of 2026. This could have a dramatic economic impact, but it could also have a dramatic warlike quality. That this is happening while Jupiter will be retrograde in Cancer is entirely ominous.”
Unfortunately, I’m here to bring even more bad news. The worst part of this unusually potent and challenging Jupiter Rx period has yet to occur, because Saturn and Neptune have yet to return to Aries and conjoin one another. Neptune will be returning to tropical Aries on January 26th, 2026; Saturn on February 13th, 2026; and their conjunction occurs on February 20th, 2026. In short, and most unfortunately, we ain’t seen nuthin' yet.
Astrology is always open to interpretation, and this situation could be read quite differently depending on your political bias. For example, a biased right-wing astrologer might argue that Saturn-Neptune in tropical Aries shows a bold and daring manly man making his country “strong again,” despite (assumed) sneakiness and deception from his dastardly political foes.
I’m more inclined to argue something like the following:
The tradition of astrology, for thousands of years, has recognized Saturn as finding his most challenging sign to be Aries, his place of Fall or Depression. While Saturn in Aries does tend to have wonderfully potent gifts that match the nature of the sign Aries, it’s also always where Saturn functions least well on his own, where Saturnian problems are most highlighted and potent, and where we are likely to have the lowest level of awareness or intelligence around the best level of functioning around that which Saturn represents.
Saturn represents, for example, being able to work cooperatively with others in a civilized manner, following rules and norms that are for the greater and wider good. At an extreme, a stronger and more ‘dignified’ Saturn will manifest as too much conformity, and thus a kind of inauthenticity, and an inability to take necessary risks to create bold and courageous novel approaches or changes.
But that’s clearly not the problem we’re seeing in the world right now. What we’re seeing looks much more like Saturn in Aries, which we did experience for the first time recently in 2025, which on its surface sometimes looks very much like relatively stupid people selfishly and brazenly disrupting the good things that more mature adults have erected and built in the past.
As I wrote in my piece from March 11th, 2025 about the then-incoming the time of Saturn-Neptune in Aries/Pisces:
"I fear it's bad, guys. I would say you have to prepare yourself to soon be even more disappointed by humanity, by our narcissism and selfishness and potential for violence (Aries) as well as our potential for faith-based thinking and susceptibility to cult-like mind control (Pisces). And it’s probably going to shock you as absolutely, soul-crushingingly tragic. Yes, more than it already has. Maybe even much more."
I'll go ahead and double-down on that prediction and advice, and suggest that it's only just begun to be relevant.
Of course, there’s always a pendulum that swings between setting up a world based on norms of order and cooperation (dignified Saturn) and confrontation and rebellion that disrupts the status quo (one expression of a less than dignified Saturn—which is sometimes necessary). And I suppose we all have to look at what’s occurring and come to our own conclusions about this. Is Trump, for example, doing wonderful things or horrible things? For many, the answer will have already been predetermined by which echo chambers one chooses to live within, and which social circles one wants to find acceptance within. You gotta love us.
WILL THERE BE MORE WAR?
Objectively, we can see that Trump has not only brazenly attacked Venezuela and claimed that we now run the country as he seeks to gain access to their oil, he has also recently threatened Columbia, Mexico, and Cuba, in addition having already threatened Canada, Greenland, and Panama in 2025. He suddenly seems like a man playing a deadly game of Risk, attempting to win a game through control of both North and South America, literally. And while this is a decent strategy if you're literally playing the Risk boardgame, now we're talking about real life, and you aren't dreaming, and this isn't a drill.
Remember that the emphasis on Pisces highlighted by Neptune having been in Pisces in both major zodiacs shows us in a time of comfortable and passive mass delusion, thinking that things are going to be okay, probably just like what it must have been like in America the last time this happened, literally right before the US Civil War broke out and everything changed.
The first expression of Neptune returning to Aries last year brought us the Trump “liberation day” tariffs. I wrote about that as well on November 4th:
“This echoes the very same astrological event that occurred literally 36 hours before the first shots were fired in the US Civil War in 1861, as well as the same event repeating in 2025 literally three days before Trump announced our “liberation day,” in which his global tariffs were announced, which have been likened to him initiating an economic nuclear war.”
So the 2025 expression of Neptune in Aries brought us into an economic nuclear war. The 2026 expression is so far shaping up to look like military wars and actions while the economic fallout continues. Of course, other nations will also have their own expressions of the utterly ominous indications of the Saturn-Neptune conjunction about to occur in trop-Aries while Jupiter is retrograde in trop-Cancer, and suddenly it’s not hard to imagine a host of authoritarian countries around the world making bold moves to capture more territory, potentially initiating one of the most chaotic times in world history.
The US continues to talk about wanting to take and capture Greenland away from Denmark, a NATO ally that actually owns the territory. What happens if a NATO country invades and annexes land from another NATO country? It’s almost as if all of this is exactly what Russia would love to see happen. Some have even speculated that they may possess certain compromising evidence about a certain orange critter who once had an interesting best buddy who committed suicide while in a prison cell that would make it impossible for one to do such a thing. Hm.
Saturn has barely begun its journey through Aries, a time period that looks increasingly like the onset of major military activity. In addition to Saturn returning to tropical Aries on February 13th, and staying there ultimately until April 12th, 2028, Saturn will also enter Aries in sidereal (typically, Vedic) astrology on June 2nd, 2027, remaining there until April 17th, 2030.
So we figure to be in a phase of history marked by those bold and manly men brazenly and selfishly disrupting the norms of peace and cooperation, in an attempt to steal the resources and property of others. It isn’t hard to imagine this as some kind of WW III scenario, or perhaps simply one where the most militarily powerful nations take advantage of weaker neighbors, except this time, lots and lots of countries have nukes, and we aren't too far from AI presenting a new kind of deadly military technology either.
And here is where I pause for a moment of silence and prayer.
Because this is all so much more than any of us would wish to have to contemplate. Deep breaths.
In the end, if civilization as we know it continues to crumble around us, it will be our all too typical human failing that made it so. Once we achieved a relatively safe and prosperous world, one in which we could have largely lived together in peace and harmony if we were motivated to work toward that reality, rather than continuing to fight for freedom and liberty for all, rather than being bothered to care about things like political realities, we allowed ourselves to become self-indulgent and self-absorbed, assuming that the other adults would keep us safe and moving toward a better world for all (just look at how Europe trusted the USA), when in fact we simply did what comes most naturally and predictably for us: looking out for number one, regardless of our impact on the world around us.
And so we’ve allowed the most powerful financial interests to write our own laws, the most aggressive and malignantly narcissistic among us to seize control, the most hateful propagandists to poison our young minds (many of whom now think that H-guy from WW II Germany wasn't so bad), and now it looks like the entire world will suffer for it.
Human beings weren’t designed to be able to withstand the onslaught of influential mind control that we are currently subjected to constantly, and now the youngest generation is learning to grow up with AI, and outsourcing their ability to think critically. As they would say, we’re cooked. Because our youth is surrendering their ability to think things through to a technology that many of the brightest minds in the world are desperately trying to warn us could before too long lead to something like our extinction, a technology that has already shown a propensity to take action to protect itself, even if it means harming human beings to do so. A technology that could one day easily, for example, design a virus that would wipe us out.
Do take care of yourself and those you love. At least that’s one thing we can try to control. Our time here is short enough already. At the age of 50, I’m all too aware that we’ll all be worm food soon enough, and for those who are younger than me, I do mean all of us. What you will bring with you from this life is your consciousness, including your courage and compassion. Here’s to making the most of this precious human life.
Dark times allow the human drama to unfold, and there’s no need to audition for a starring role: you get to choose your role in this great play or lila. Duality bites. Stay strong and stay in your heart. If we work together, we can at least make some qualitative difference, one human heart at a time. I believe we are largely here to learn how to love.
And don’t only pray, but raise your own consciousness and generous heart frequencies, as it may also be ironically the best way to protect yourself and those you love most. Remember that like attracts like, so create the love and beauty within, and surrender the rest to G-d. It's go time, and our time here is short enough already.
Humbly,
In surrender,
May all beings be happy and free!

As always, I'm available to you for private consulations and tutoring, and I offer classes on Holistic Locational Astrology, a powerful 21st century approach to what is often called astrocartography.

Gosh it would be nice if this were one of those times when what we predicted might come to pass falls hopelessly short and we all skip away laughing *sigh*. You called it well Moses, with the timing. My eye has been on Neptune conjunct the IC in the Sibly chart and also Trump's Uranus transit into his 10th (equal house). I think along with eclipse season, February is also going to be 'interesting.' Leaning into that lovely walk for peace by the monks which I've been writing about today. But we're getting plenty of foreshadowing of things to come.
Deep Breaths!
As my daughter said to me the other day, “If we allow all this negative chaos to live in our brains, we certainly will unravel”.
